Oh man, the FedEx API is a real beast.. I just spent the entire evening trying to get ACCOUNT rates to work in Magento.. It seemed strange that Magento didn't support them before, especially since it's such a simple flag when making the rate request, but sometimes things aren't as easy as they should be.. After adding the option to retrieve account rates, my staging site mysteriously started crashing anytime I'd try to retrieve rates. So, what the heck? This is bunk. After hours of tinkering, I finally noticed that when retrieving account rates, FedEx sends Home Delivery in a *different* format than the rest of the shipping options. What?!?! Anyways, I'm a pragmatist, so I added an exception for this format, and account rates started working. Boy, was I relieved. So, I proudly present VERSION 1.2! Hurray for stability.

You definitely have built up some serious cred with your Magento + Fedex knowhow!
You mention “List” rates in your ShipSync notes and I’m curious if 1.2 can solve my problem - my company routinely ships to Canada and also gets a good discount from FedEx. When I swap out the DiscountedCharges with ListCharges (List Rate set to “true”), the “International…” options to Canada disappear leaving the customer only a FedEx Ground option. I basically want the best of both worlds by getting to pocket the discounted % for US shipments while still having International Economy et al show up for Canadian customers. Hope ShipSync can help. If not, would gladly $ for your solution
Thnx!
Mary

Your plug-in appears to be just want I’m looking for!
Now for the questions:
(1) Do I still need to get my test and production keys, passwords, etc. for FedEx BEFORE installing your plug in?
(2) Is there a try-before buy option?
(3) Does your shipsync plug-in automagically perform the same hacks as your MagentoFedEx API (WSDL v6) ?
Thanks for any assistance.
Sincerely,
Don V.

Do you guys have a module that supports USPS, either natively, or with Endicia.
We have a client that uses both FedEx and USPS, and having both tightly integrated with Magento would be huge.
Thanks,
Vi

I suppose it’d be trivial to add USPS (and UPS functionality for that matter), but for now I’m trying to make sure FedEx is bulletproof. Possibly a future release will support additional methods. Alternatively, I’m available for hire (if the price is right :)) and can build a custom module for you…

Hey Don, thanks for the interest.
1) Test keys are required by FedEx (you must send them test labels before they’ll give you a production key). However, if you’ve already been approved for production creds, then there is no need to go through the testing process again.
2) No try-before-buy, but we offer a money-back guarantee.
3) Not exactly.. My previous posts were hacks to get Zenprint’s modules working. ShipSync is an entirely new extension, born out of frustration with the Zenprint modules…

Hey Mary, I’m not sure if ShipSync will give you that functionality right out of the box, but I’m always willing to make modifications/improvements to suit customers’ needs. Email me at d@kernelhack.com and we’ll discuss further…
